Safety notes
- Only in water deep enough for diving under your pool's operating procedures, with a clear area in front.
- One swimmer at a time; arms always extended over the head on entry. Never dive into shallow water.
What it develops

How to run it
- Crouch with toes curled over the edge, arms streamlined.
- Lean forward and push out with the legs.
- Enter fingertips first through 'one hole' in the water.
- Glide and rise to swim.
Teaching cues
- Push out, not up.
- Through one hole.
- Stay streamlined.
Make it easier
- Kneeling Dive.
- Push out over a noodle held on the surface.
Make it harder
- Standing Dive.
- Add a breakout into front crawl.
Common faults
- Entering flat (belly flop).
- Diving too steep.
Corrections
- Use Over the Noodle Dive to find the angle.
- 'Aim a body-length out.'
Assistant / L1 role
- Hold the noodle target at the right distance and height for each swimmer.
