A circle game that combines a rhyme, holding hands and blowing bubbles – ideal for younger groups.

Safety notes
- Keep the circle in water where everyone can stand comfortably.
What it develops
- Scoop water and wash the face
- Blow bubbles with mouth and nose in the water
How to run it
- Swimmers hold hands in a circle (teacher and assistant join in).
- Walk around the circle singing a rhyme.
- On the last line everyone 'falls down' by blowing bubbles in the water.
- Progress to putting faces in on the last line.
Teaching cues
- Keep holding hands.
- Blow bubbles at the bottom.
- Stand up and smile!
Make it easier
- Chin only in the water on 'fall down'.
Make it harder
- Whole head under on 'fall down'.
- Let go of hands and float on 'fall down'.
Common faults
- Letting go of hands and stopping.
Corrections
- Put the teacher and assistant next to the most nervous swimmers.
Assistant / L1 role
- Hold hands with the most nervous swimmer so they feel secure going down.
